Call me Ishmael. I am aboard a cruise leaving Perkins Cove for places unknown ... or so I imagine. The sea calls to us, does it not? Even in childhood, timeless favorite books include Treasure Island, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Moby Dick, and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Now, as an adult, I imagine that I am setting out on my own great adventure. And while my adventure out of Perkins Cove will be no longer than an all-day fishing trip, I am indeed excited. On one of Ogunquit's sailboats, I will not sail to islands of buried gold, but I will find my own treasure - peace of mind and total relaxation as the same breeze that fills the sails also clears my cluttered mind.  On a lobstering cruise, the captain will bring the creatures that walk the bottom of the sea to me, so that I do not have to travel 20,000 leagues down. On a fishing trip, I have no idea what or how big will be the Moby Dick I will bring up from the depths of the ocean. Even in a canoe or on a paddleboard in the Ogunquit River, I am master of my own destiny like young Tom Sawyer, and can explore the quiet coves and marshes at my own pace. Yes, the the water calls to me still, just as it did when I was a child. And here in Ogunquit, for a few hours on the water, I can live those childhood fantasies and share them with my children, too.
